

Dance Teacher's Certificate

The Dance Teacher's Certificate (DTC) is currently undergoing a revision phase. The findings from three Master's courses and Said el Amir's currently ongoing doctorate are being incorporated into the training program.
The following contents are to be regarded as the minimum requirements for competent dance instruction and were formerly components of the DTC.
Those wishing to pursue further training in this area are encouraged to purchase the book „Kompetenzorientierter Tanzunterricht" by Gerd Mittag (also known as Said el Amir).
Basic knowledge of health & performance - dance medicine
This module teaches you basic knowledge about dance medicine. You will learn about the anatomy of dancers, how they use energy during performances, and how to provide first aid in a dance studio.

Basic knowledge of teaching methods and learning types
The module deals intensively with different teaching methods and relates these to different types of learners. It is based on vocational pedagogical aspects.

Basic knowledge of communication and the use of language in class
This module covers the rarely taught topic of communication in the classroom and the conscious use of language when teaching dance.

Basic knowledge of basic psychological needs
This module is designed to impart knowledge regarding the fundamental psychological needs of learners and the methods of enhancing motivation in accordance with the principles established by Maslow, Deci, and Ryan.

Basic knowledge of didactic tools for all levels and all ages
The content of this module encompasses didactic instruments and practical pedagogical techniques applicable to dance education at all proficiency levels.

Review of learning objectives - module tests and final thesis
This is the module that concludes all other modules. It is always possible to take the intermediate examinations at the end of the respective module or at the very end.
